Torque GC claims third team title of the season at the LIV Golf League

Torque GC, led by captain Joaquin Niemann, emerged victorious once again, securing its third team title of the season at the latest event of the LIV Golf League.
The Torque team showcased its dominance with a final-round best 7-under counting score, finishing the tournament at an impressive 16 under par. They sealed their triumph with a comfortable five-stroke lead over their closest competitors, the RangeGoats, while the Crushers GC clinched the third position.
Niemann and Sebastián Muñoz were instrumental in Torque's success, both finishing with impressive 3-under 69s. However, it was David Puig, the youngest player on the LIV Golf League roster at just 21 years old, who shone brightly with a notable contribution of a 2-under 69. The trio's combined effort allowed them to conquer the last three holes of their rounds in a remarkable cumulative score of 4 under par.
This victory marks Torque's second consecutive win after their recent triumph in Washington D.C. last month. With this latest achievement, Torque has significantly closed the gap on the season-long leader, 4Aces GC, who secured the fourth position on the leaderboard at Valderrama. The team now finds themselves just seven points behind 4Aces GC, adding further excitement to the battle for the overall season title.
For Puig, this win holds special significance. As one of the youngest players in the competition, Puig showcased exceptional talent and maturity throughout the tournament. Joining the ranks of esteemed Spanish-born players, such as Sergio Garcia from Fireballs GC and Eugenio Chacarra, Puig's performance has undoubtedly solidified his position among the rising stars of Spanish golf.
Puig said: “It's amazing. Playing at home is always good, and it's even more special when you get a win and when you get a win with this group of guys. It was a great week.”
Niemann said: “Having David also the main character of this tournament is really special for us. I think it makes it a lot easier when we do everything together like we are a team.
“You can see in the results, we're playing great golf, and just looking forward for the rest of the season, try to keep doing the same and having a good time, as well.”
