It was a thrilling finish at Real Club Valderrama as American golfer Talor Gooch secured a dramatic one-stroke LIV Golf victory over Bryson DeChambeau, becoming the first three-time individual winner in the tour's brief history.

Gooch, representing RangeGoats GC, showcased his skills as he carded a final-round 4-under 67, finishing the tournament at 12-under par. DeChambeau, the determined captain of Crushers GC, fought hard but had to settle for a commendable second place with a score of 11-under after his 2-under 69 in the final round.

Major winning golfer and captain of Smash GC, Brooks Koepka, secured third place with a score of 9-under.

What makes Gooch's achievement all the more extraordinary is that all three of his victories in 2023 have occurred outside of his native United States. Earlier this year, he made history by winning back-to-back events in Adelaide and Singapore, becoming the first player to claim consecutive titles in LIV Golf.

Gooch, who now leads the Individual Champion race by 27 points over Koepka, said: “Last year I didn't get a win, so this year I was just so focused on getting an individual win.

“You don't think much past the first one until you get the first one. I definitely didn't have three in mind for the season, but it's cool that we're here, and it's especially cool to have the third one here at Valderrama.”
