THE DROUGHT ENDS: After three years Xander Schauffele finally wins again on PGA Tour
Updated: Jun 28, 2022

Xander Schauffele claimed his 6th PGA Tour title on Sunday and ended a three-year winless streak on Tour by claiming the Travelers Championship in dramatic style. Although Schauffele won gold at the Olympics in 2021 and claimed victory at the Zurich Classic earlier this year whilst partnered with Patrick Cantlay, he's been without an individual victory on the PGA Tour since 2019.
A birdie on the 18th hole gave Schauffele a two-stroke victory over J.T.Poston and Sahith Theegala. Theegala suffered a nightmare finish with a double bogey on 18 to end his chance of securing his first PGA win.
After his victory Xander said: "It feels really good. Everyone talks about how hard it is, and I only had the Olympics to sort of fall back on having a [54-hole] lead and kind of closing it. I've never done it on the PGA Tour. ... I mean to do it in Japan and then sort of have that experience, I really tapped into that today."
Heading into the final round at TPC River Highlands with the 54-hole lead, Xander was on fire with his Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS Driver, averaging over 313 yards.
A phenomenal tee shot down the last, followed by a tidy wedge shot left a short birdie putt for the Olympic Gold Medalist, which he made no mistake with.
