Stingers GC Captain Louis Oosthuizen showed us once again why he is considered one of the best golfers in the world. With an astonishing performance on Saturday, Oosthuizen ignited hopes of victory at LIV Golf London.

Oosthuizen, who is no stranger to historic rounds, having famously shot a 57 at his home course in Mossel Bay, South Africa, got off to a scorching start. Within his first 10 holes, the South African golfer notched an impressive five birdies and an eagle. With each hole passing, the sense of anticipation grew, as it seemed like anything was possible for Oosthuizen on this exceptional day.

Unfortunately, Oosthuizen's dream of a record-breaking round was derailed. A missed short birdie putt on the 17th hole (his 13th of the day) and an inability to capitalise on an opportunity at the par-5 18th prevented him from maintaining his blistering pace.

Nevertheless, the setback did not diminish his hopes for victory going into the final day at London. His performance merited an impressive score of 8-under 63, matching the score of Cameron Smith's first-round performance.

“I felt like I was hitting it good enough to genuinely have a birdie on every hole to have a chance,” Oosthuizen said.

“Just lost concentration really on my third shot and made bogey. Probably could have gotten a few more shots out of it, but I played solid golf. I can’t complain.”
