Scottie Scheffler returns to No.1 in the world after his emphatic victory at The Players Championship over the weekend.

Scottie Scheffler held strong through tough Sunday conditions at TPC Sawgrass to capture his sixth career win in the last 392 days. His final round 69 (-3) gave Scheffler a five stroke margin of victory. He is just the third player in the last 40 years to record first and sixth career PGA Tour wins within 400 days of each other.

The 26-year-old American joins an elite club of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players in history to hold Masters and Players titles simultaneously. His victory in Florida was his second of the PGA Tour season after capturing the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale back in February.

As the season begins to ramp up towards the years first major at Augusta, Scheffler is looking in imperious form to defend his title there.

Scheffler by the numbers

For the tournament (68-69-65-69), Scheffler led in driving distance (305.9-yards), Greens in Regulation (75 percent), Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (17.7), Strokes Gained: Total (16.9) and was 2nd in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (5.5).

Through each of the first three rounds, Scheffler had gained more than 4 strokes on the field tee-to-green becoming the first player to do so in the ShotLink era
