Scotland’s Richie Ramsey secures first title in seven years at the Cazoo Classic
Richie Ramsay birdied three of the last five holes at the DP World Tour’s Cazoo Classic to take a dramatic single-shot victory on the final green.
When the pressure was on, the 39-year-old Scot holed a tricky eight-foot putt to secure his first title in seven years.
Richie had powered his way to the summit of the leaderboard with brilliant birdies on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes, setting himself up for a winning -14 total and rounds of 69, 69, 67 and 69.
Immediately after winning, and picking up a cheque for €297,500, Richie said: “It just feels unbelievable. The belief. I've had some bad times over the last couple of years but I kept believing my game was good.
“There's nothing better than holing a putt under the gun - when it matters, when the tournament is on the line. For me, winning is everything, it's what matters in the sport. I felt the nerves coming down the stretch but played great.”
