"I was sobering up last year, I don't remember that much." Brooks Koepka relives LIV Chicago 2022

Ahead of the opening round of LIV Golf Chicago 2023 (which starts this Friday), Brooks Koepka has been chatting to the media about everything from the upcoming Ryder Cup to even his hair! However, when asked about his relocations of the course this week, Rich Harvest Farms, his memory of 2022 was a little hazy: "I think it's a good golf course", Koepka said. "But that's coming off a honeymoon, I was sobering up last year, I don't remember that much." In June 2022, Koepka married Jena Sims after which the pair embarked on a honeymoon to Santorini in Greece.
At LIV Golf Chicago last year the captain of Smash GC finished at 2-under for a 22nd place finish, not too shabby considering the haze he says he was playing through. This year, however, Brooks will hope to go even lower as he chases down the season long title. Currently he sits in 4th spot with 112 points, whilst Aussie Cam Smith sits aloft the leaderboard with 170 points. With the Ryder Cup on the horizon, Brooks was glad to have made the team. " Yeah, I'm a pick this year, a little different. Would have liked to make it on my own. But it was close. Just happy to be on the team. We went over to Rome a few -- what was it, maybe a week and a half ago now. Good trip. Most of the guys were there. Got to see the golf course. It's pretty difficult, but it will be interesting to see how they set it up." And as for his longer hair? "I've been growing it out. Trying to figure out what I might do with it." I guess time will tell whether we'll see another mullet rocking the LIV tour. For anything and everything about LIV Golf Chicago, head on over to our extensive preview.
