Golf influencer Rick Shiels "too hard on himself" as he works to improve game in 2024

Golf’s biggest social media influencer Rick Shiels has admitted to being "too hard on himself" as he looks for game improvements in the 2024 season.

In a statement released on his X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, the renowned golf influencer openly addressed concerns regarding his self-criticism, acknowledging the internal pressures he has been facing.

Shiels, a prominent figure in the golfing community, is known not only for his insightful tutorials and equipment reviews but also for his candid and engaging personality that has resonated with millions of golf enthusiasts worldwide.

Shiels' candid admission comes amidst a period of intense personal and professional development, where he has been working hard to refine his golf game away from the public eye. His statement highlights a journey a commitment to improvement, a narrative that resonates with sports professionals and amateurs alike.

Shiels' journey from a PGA Golf Professional to one of the most influential figures in the online golf community is a testament to his deep understanding of the sport and his ability to engage with a global audience.

Shiels said in an open statement: “I'd like to address a few comments that "I'm too hard on myself" etc, the truth is...I have been too hard on myself lately. It probably boils down to frustration. I've been working REALLY REALLY hard on my game recently off camera and I want to show you guys my improvement and that I can play at a really good standard. I get frustrated and I'm disappointed I can't show you how my golf game is better than the last 12 months or so.
“Positive signs are coming, which is exciting but I need to be patient and accept it won't just magically happen overnight. I'll continue to work hard on my game. My plan for new videos I film in 2024 is to SMILE more and enjoy it. I know not just good golf but GREAT golf is round the corner.“
